For the seventeenth consecutive year, the MDR broadcasting council is set to honor an audio game designed for children with its prestigious award.
The MDR Broadcasting Council is set to host the 17th Children's Radio Play Award in 2025, inviting submissions for original radio plays that uniquely convey the theme of human dignity to children and young people.
The competition is open to radio plays no earlier than 2024, with a maximum length of 60 minutes. The deadline for submissions is 31 October 2025, and all entries should be sent to the MDR GremienbĂŒro at the address 04360 Leipzig, or via email at [email protected].
Applicants for the MDR Children's Jury, responsible for evaluating the submitted radio plays, must be children aged between 8 and 15 from Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia. Applications for the Children's Jury can be submitted by 30 September 2025. The selection process for the Children's Jury will be made if there are more applications than available places.
A good motivational letter can be an advantage in the selection process for the Children's Jury. Further rules of the competition can be found here or requested from the MDR GremienbĂŒro.
The award ceremony is tentatively scheduled for the Leipzig Book Fair 2026, and the Children's Jury will have the opportunity to experience the event live on site. The award is endowed with 6,000 euros and can be divided among a maximum of three contributions.
The committee consists of members of the MDR Broadcasting Council and representatives from children's and youth theatre, media criticism, and interest representation for children and young people. Sandrina Sperlich is associated with the MDR GremienbĂŒro.
Information about authorship, direction, and production should be submitted separately from the contributions on the CDs. No specific information is available about who applied for the MDR Children's Jury for the MDR Hörspielpreis 2025 by the deadline of September 30, 2025.
