Ford initiates the recall of over 355,000 pickup trucks due to faults in the dashboard instrument display.
Ford Motor Company has announced a recall of over 355,000 pickup trucks and other vehicles across the United States, aiming to address a software issue that may cause an instrument panel display failure. The recall, which includes certain Ford F-150s from the 2025 model year, as well as other Ford "Super Duty" trucks, such as the 2025-2026 F-550 SD, F-450 SD, F-350 SD, and F-250 SDs, was announced on August 22.
The now-recalled software was introduced into production in June 2024 and was removed from the process in July 2025. As of June 26, Ford had received 95 warranty claims related to this issue, but no accidents or injuries have been reported. This failure may prevent drivers from reading critical safety-related telltales and gauges, increasing the risk of a crash. The recall report notes that the failure can prevent the display of critical information like warning lights and vehicle speed.
In response to this issue, Ford is offering a free IPC software update to impacted owners to address the display failure. The software update will be available at authorized dealers or through an "over-the-air" update, providing a more convenient solution for customers than an in-person dealer visit. Owner notification letters with more information and instructions about the remedy will soon be sent out.
Ford's chief operating officer, Kumar Galhotra, addressed the recent uptick in recalls at Ford earlier this month. Galhotra stated that the increase reflects an intensive strategy to quickly find and fix hardware and software issues and go the extra mile to help protect customers.
This recall is not the first for Ford this year. The company has already recalled 694,000 Bronco Sport and Escape vehicles due to a fuel injector issue and over 850,000 cars due to potential fuel pump failure. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has published documents regarding this recall.
It is important to note that no accidents or injuries have been reported due to this issue as of the publication date. However, Ford urges affected vehicle owners to follow the instructions provided in the owner notification letters to ensure their safety and the safety of others on the road.
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
