Foreign workers needed in Saxony-Anhalt for training positions - Foreign Labor is in Demand in Saxony-Anhalt
In the heart of Germany, the state of Saxony-Anhalt has seen a significant increase in the number of trainees with roots abroad over the past decade. According to regional expert Behrens, this integration is deemed a social and economic necessity for the region.
The data reveals that in 2024, more applications for the recognition of foreign professional qualifications were submitted compared to the previous year, totaling 1,263. This surge is particularly evident among individuals with roots in Ukraine, Tunisia, or Turkey, who make up the majority of these applications.
However, it's important to note that only about half of the foreign professional qualifications were recognized as fully equivalent to a qualification obtained in Germany. In some cases, compensation was required for the recognition process. Interestingly, only 33 qualifications were not recognized in the given context.
The most frequent countries of origin for foreign applicants for training positions in Saxony-Anhalt in 2024, as registered with the Federal Employment Agency, include Romania and Afghanistan. There is also a significant presence of people with Ukrainian citizenship.
As for the employment sector, most of the trainees with roots abroad, as of the end of the previous year, were employed in the healthcare, hospitality, and manufacturing sectors. This diversity in the workforce is not only enriching the cultural landscape of the region but also contributing to its economic growth.
While the Federal Employment Agency was not specifically mentioned as being involved in the recognition of foreign professional qualifications in the given context, it is clear that the agency plays a crucial role in registering foreign applicants for training positions in Saxony-Anhalt.
Despite the challenges, the integration of foreign trainees into the region's workforce is a positive step towards a more diverse and vibrant economy. As the number of applications continues to grow, it's clear that the benefits of this integration far outweigh the obstacles.
