In a series of significant events, Kazakhstan has been at the centre of international cooperation and economic partnerships.

Last week, China and Kazakhstan lent their support during the inauguration of the modernised customs zone at the port of Aktau. This collaboration is expected to bolster trade relations between the two countries.

Meanwhile, in Brussels, the Ambassadors of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan held a meeting on August 25. The discussion covered a wide array of topics, including history, the prospects for the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), the situation in the South Caucasus, as well as trade and bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. The details of this discussion, however, remain undisclosed.

Egypt, a key regional player, holds significant potential as an economic and investment partner in North Africa for Kazakhstan. This was emphasised in an exclusive interview given by Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Egypt, Askar Zhenis, to Ahram Online.

On the domestic front, Celtic FC, the Scottish football club, faced a challenging 210 minutes without scoring a goal against Kairat Almaty. Despite this, the team managed to secure their spot in the Champions League for the first time in their history, thanks to a successful penalty shootout.

In a separate development, the Kazakhstan-Jordan Business Forum aimed to explore investment opportunities and develop economic partnerships between the two countries. King Abdullah of Jordan and Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev attended the closing session of the forum in Astana on August 27. Around 200 representatives from companies and economic institutions from both Kazakhstan and Jordan participated in the forum.

King Abdullah praised the progress Kazakhstan has made under President Tokayev's leadership and emphasised the opportunity to build an economic bridge between Central Asia and the Middle East with Jordan's strategic location and strengths in services, logistics, and innovation.

Japan's support for digitising customs at Kazakhstan's Aktau port signals a strategic economic alignment along the Trans-Caspian route. This support is part of deeper collaboration in rare earths, nuclear energy, and medical aid.

In a twist of football fate, Kairat Almaty emerged victorious in the penalty shootout, denying Celtic a place in the next round. Temirlan Anarbekov, the home keeper for Kairat Almaty, made further saves to deny Luke McCowan and Daizen Maeda in the shootout.

Lastly, Minister Akkenzhenov hinted at the possibility of using the Baku-Supsa pipeline to export Kazakhstani oil if an agreement to this effect is reached with Azerbaijan. However, the export of Kazakhstani oil via the Baku-Supsa pipeline with loading and unloading operations in the ports of Aktau and Baku is expected to cost more than deliveries via the Russian route.

These events underscore Kazakhstan's active role in international diplomacy and its commitment to fostering economic growth and partnerships.
