Forest Climate Trail Application for Königshöhe Peak
In the heart of Wuppertal city, a new educational adventure awaits young explorers. The Forestry Department of Wuppertal city, in collaboration with KiddyTrip, has developed a digital learning trail named Waldklimapfad, located within the city's forest.
The digital trail, designed to be playful in nature, offers an educational and entertaining experience that promotes awareness of the forest's importance during climate change. The trail takes approximately one and a half hours to complete and consists of around nine stations.
The Waldklimapfad is browser-based, accessible through a smartphone with mobile internet access and Google Maps. Children on the trail can answer quiz questions, master tasks together, and actively participate. The project aims to encourage children to explore the forest and understand its connections, focusing on important topics such as forest fires, climate change, and water management.
The German Forest Conservation Association and Rotary Club Wuppertal-Bergisch Land are the project's funders. The Deputy Mayor of Wuppertal city, Dr. Kathrin Linthorst, expressed her pleasure about the trail's digital version. However, it's Anne Issel, the Deputy Mayor of Wuppertal city, who is particularly pleased about the digital forest climate trail.
The trail starts at Zur Waldesruh 234 and is expected to attract many families to the forest. The project's digital version is seen as a wonderful example of education for sustainable development. The Waldklimapfad aims to strengthen the connection between children and nature in a playful way, making learning about climate change an enjoyable experience.
