Forest Fire Extinguished in Yakutia, Death of Parachute and Fire Instructor

In a recent development, Andrey Konoplev, the Deputy Minister of Ecology, Nature Management, and Forestry of Yakutia, announced the extinguishing of a forest fire that had been burning in the region. This news comes as a relief, as the fire was one of eight active forest fires currently affecting the districts of Viluisk, Kobyaysk, Lensky, Mirninsky, and Olekminsky.

The fire, which covered 0.2 hectares, was put out in the territory of the "City of Yakutsk" district. A total of 361 workers are currently engaged in firefighting efforts, working under challenging conditions such as thick smoke, extreme temperatures, and constant wind changes.

Unfortunately, the parachute and fire instructor Boris Tatarnov, who recently died, was not involved in the current forest fires. His death occurred while he was performing his duties, according to UlusMedia and the Ministry of Ecology of Yakutia. Each parachute jump poses a significant risk to these professionals, making their work even more perilous.

Comparing the current situation to last year, there were 94 forest fires covering a much larger area of 352,413.3 hectares on the same date last year. However, the current fires collectively cover a smaller area, and the number of active forest fires has decreased significantly from last year's count.

Regrettably, no details about the impact of the current forest fires on local infrastructure or the environment were provided. Similarly, no information was given about the cause or circumstances of the current forest fires.

It's worth noting that the organization responsible for firefighting in Yakutia is the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM). In August 2021, approximately 5000 people were actively involved in firefighting efforts there.

No mention was made of any other incidents involving VKontakte, Classmates, WhatsApp, Telegram, or Twitter in relation to the fire or Tatarnov's death.

In conclusion, while the extinguishing of the forest fire in Yakutia is a positive development, the loss of Boris Tatarnov is a reminder of the risks these professionals face in their line of duty. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
