Porsche's Electric Supercar, the Mission E, Arrives in 2020

Four-door electric supercar by Porsche, the Mission E, promises a maximum power output of 670 brake horsepower.

Porsche is set to release its highly anticipated four-door electric supercar, the Mission E, in 2020. The vehicle, which is smaller than the Panamera, is a four-seater designed to compete with the Tesla Model S.

The Mission E will offer three different power options: 670bhp, 536bhp, and 402bhp. The range-topping model will feature a single motor on each axle and a bigger rear axle motor, ensuring a powerful and dynamic driving experience. All versions of the car will be four-wheel drive.

Porsche is investing €700 million in an electric future for the production of the Mission E. The company expects to produce 30,000 units of the car annually to meet demand. While an entry-level rear-wheel drive model may be offered, details are yet to be confirmed.

The Mission E Concept was first previewed at the Frankfurt Motor Show with a possible output of 600bhp. The car is expected to have a real-world range of 300 miles, and a recharge from high-powered charging points will take just 20 minutes for an 80% charge.

The development and production of the electric version of the Porsche Mission E supercar, known as the Porsche Taycan, is taken over entirely by Porsche itself. The vehicle was launched as a fully electric series-production model and entered sales around 2019 as the first all-electric Porsche sports sedan. The production of the Mission E is secured by pay concessions agreed upon by workers at Porsche's Zuffenhausen Plant.

The cost of the Mission E is expected to be around the same as the Panamera. With its combination of performance, range, and luxury, the Mission E is set to redefine the electric supercar market.
