Research In Motion (RIM) has recently entered the tablet market with the release of its new device, the PlayBook. In a move to attract book lovers, Amazon and Barnes & Noble have announced plans to bring their popular e-book reading applications to the PlayBook.

Amazon has confirmed that it will be introducing an e-book reading app for the PlayBook, which will be compliant with Amazon's WhisperSync technology. This technology ensures that what you read on one device will be in sync with multiple devices, making it easy to pick up where you left off on another device. The app will be free of cost, just like the Kindle app that is already available on the PlayBook and popular among book lovers.

Similarly, Barnes & Noble has announced that it will develop an e-book reader application for the PlayBook. Like other Kindle apps, this app will allow users to download books directly to the PlayBook device and work seamlessly with the iPad, iPhone, Android devices, and Amazon's Kindle range of e-readers.

The performance of the PlayBook's e-book reading app is powered by dual core processors, ensuring a smooth and fast reading experience. However, the PlayBook is facing competition with Apple's iPad, which has dominated the tablet market since its release.

Amazon's vision for its e-book reading app is "Buy Once, Read Everywhere", as stated by Dorothy Nicholls, Director at Amazon Kindle. This vision aligns with RIM's goal of making the PlayBook a versatile and user-friendly device that can compete with the iPad.

With the addition of these popular e-book reading apps, the PlayBook is poised to become a formidable contender in the tablet market, offering book lovers a new option for their digital reading needs.
