In a setback for both Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and the French national team (Les Bleus), Ousmane Dembélé and Desire Doué have been ruled out for approximately six and four weeks respectively due to injuries sustained during the game against Ukraine on September 6.

Dembélé, who plays for the Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, suffered a tear of the hamstring in his right thigh in the 81st minute of the match. PSG confirmed the severity of the injury and estimated that the winger would be out for around six weeks.

Doué, another PSG player, also suffered an injury during the same game. He was diagnosed with a tear of the soleus muscle in his right calf. The French Football Federation confirmed the injuries, leaving Les Bleus without two key players for their upcoming qualifying match against Iceland on Tuesday.

The injuries occurred as both teams were on the road to the next World Cup. As a result, Dembélé will miss the upcoming classic game against Olympique de Marseille on September 21, as well as the Champions League clash against FC Barcelona on October 1.

In a positive development, Kingsley Coman, a French professional footballer who transferred to Al-Nassr from Bayern Munich in summer 2025, has been called up as a replacement for Dembélé and Doué. Coman, who is a French vice world champion, has not been deployed for the French national team since November 2024.

Coman's new teammate at Al-Nassr is none other than Cristiano Ronaldo. However, the injury crisis means that Dembélé will not participate in the clash against Barca, and he will also miss the upcoming classic game.

The loss of Dembélé and Doué is a significant blow for both PSG and Les Bleus. With the World Cup just around the corner, the teams will be hoping for a swift recovery for their injured players.
