Fresh regulations implemented for road traffic in Luxembourg

The city of Hürth, in collaboration with Landesbetrieb Straßenbau NRW (Straßen.NRW), has announced plans to implement a new traffic management system at the intersection of Luxemburger Straße and Kaulardstraße in the Hürth district of Efferen.

The decision comes following repeated complaints about traffic jams at the intersection, particularly caused by right-turning vehicles into Kaulardstraße when railway crossing barriers are closed.

Mayor Dirk Breuer explained that the new traffic management system aims to improve traffic flow and enhance traffic safety at the intersection. The system, which has already received approval from the police, involves adjusting the markings and traffic management in the entry area of the intersection.

The work on the new traffic management system will take place on the weekend of July 12 and 13, 2025. To minimise disruption, the work will be scheduled during weekends. Marking work will take place in moving traffic without closures. Temporary restrictions due to cones and temporary 30 km/h speed limits will be in effect during the work.

The final marking and traffic sign plan for the new traffic management system has already been approved. If weather conditions require a postponement, the alternative dates are set for August 9 and 10.

The new traffic regulations have been approved by the police, and the city of Hürth and Straßen.NRW have developed a solution for the issue. However, the name of the person responsible for coordinating the redevelopment of traffic management at the intersection is not publicly available.

The intersection in question has been a source of concern for local residents and commuters alike. The new traffic management system is expected to involve marking adjustments and traffic management in the entry area of the intersection, helping to alleviate the traffic jams that have been a problem in the area.

The implementation of the new traffic management system is just one of many steps being taken by the city of Hürth to improve traffic flow and safety in the district. As always, the city encourages residents and commuters to stay informed and to follow traffic regulations for a safer and more efficient journey.
