A not-so-lucky couple in the Bay Area found themselves amongst the latest in a series of high-profile gambling misadventures.
TheSD as the infamous Casino M8trix card room, it seems, was the unfortunate target of a years-long concoction of treachery masterminded by a worker, Ellen Mangundayao, and her partner-in-crime husband, Mark Mangundayao, aged 38 and 41, respectively.
The Grand Unraveling
As it often happens in these tales of deceit, the SD came clean to the San Jose authorities after the unscrupulous employee, Ellen, was caught red-handed or rather, red-chipped, since May 23rd. The casino employees' underhanded methods were confirmed by the authorities, who unveiled a long-lasting Betrayal of Trust.
After doling out arrest and search warrants, the intrepid detectives swooped in and nabbed the illicit duo. They were hauled off to the Santa Clara County Jail, where they now await trial, charged with felony embezzlement and conspiracy.
The authorities, in a show of force, seized a hefty $75K in cash and $10K in chips from the couple's abode, along with an additional $4,750 in chips discovered on Ellen's person.
