Marburg's Youth Parliament Launches 15th Annual School Bag Collection for Sibiu Children
The University City of Marburg is once again participating in a heartwarming initiative, as the Marburg Youth Parliament (KiJuPa) prepares for its 15th consecutive year of collecting school backpacks and bags for children in the twin city of Sibiu, Romania.
This annual donation campaign, organised by the Youth Parliament, aims to support children and young people in Sibiu, providing them with much-needed educational resources. Over the past 13 years, more than 2,700 school bags have been collected in Marburg and delivered to the children and young people of Sibiu.
The collection, which runs from October 2, 2023, until October 2, 2023, is open to all. Used but functional school bags and backpacks can be handed in at the Youth House in the Youth Parliament office (Room 410) or at the reception during the following hours:
- Monday to Wednesday: 9 am - 4 pm
- Thursday: 9 am - 6 pm
- Friday: 9 am - 12 pm
The collected school bags and backpacks will be taken to Romania and delivered in the fall.
In addition to supporting children in Sibiu, the campaign also aims to set an example for more sustainability and careful use of resources. By reusing school bags, the initiative encourages the community to think about the environment and the importance of reducing waste.
The "Help for Sibiu/Hermannstadt e.V." association is also lending its support to this worthy cause.
