Gathering for the Climate Rally titled 'Heroes for Future' kicks off in Aschaffenburg

In the heart of Aschaffenburg, the "Heroes for the Future" Climate Rally was launched on Wednesday, marking a significant step towards educating children about climate change and health. This innovative educational event, developed by the Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL) as part of the ZebRA research project, is now available for free to all cities and municipalities in Bavaria since May 2025.

The Climate Rally, which is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Health, Care, and Prevention (StMGP), is aimed at children aged 8 and above. The event, which focuses on demonstrating local effects of climate change and the importance of local action and awareness, is a complementary addition to the city's existing climate tours.

The rally, which involves participants finding the right path by completing ten stations from Schlossplatz to Großmutterwiese, is a barrier-free, low-traffic, and suitable for a roughly one-hour family outing for older children and anyone interested with a smartphone. The route is designed to be engaging and interactive, featuring stations such as "Drinking in the Heat" and "Cooling through Trees".

The Healthy CliMATE app serves as the platform for the innovative educational offer of the Climate Rally. This app provides a wealth of information on climate change and health to various groups, including children, adults, and seniors, through multiple platforms like brochures, the rally's website, and the app itself.

The launch of the Climate Rally was attended by Mayor Eric Leiderer, Health Minister Judith Gerlach, and Prof. Dr. med. Caroline Herr. Mayor Leiderer, who is also the city's climate adaptation manager, considers the Climate Rally an excellent addition to the established climate tours.

The Climate Rally is part of the ZebRA project, which aims to provide information on climate change and health to various groups through multiple platforms. This project is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Health, Care, and Prevention (StMGP).
