Detmold's Third Neighborhood Festival to Take Place in Heiligenkirchen
Detmold, Germany, is gearing up for its third neighborhood festival, scheduled for May 10th. This annual event aims to bring together residents and celebrate different neighbourhoods of the city each year.
The festivities will take place in Heiligenkirchen, one of Detmold's 27 neighbourhoods, which is home to approximately two-thirds of the city's population. The location of the festival rotates annually, highlighting a different neighbourhood each year.
Mayor Frank Hilker has expressed his excitement about the upcoming event, stating, "I am looking forward to the third neighbourhood festival during my term. It's a wonderful opportunity for our residents to come together and celebrate our city's unique neighbourhoods."
The festival will feature a family-friendly home afternoon on the Krugplatz, with various activities planned for all ages. At 5 PM, local groups "Friends for Folk" and the Lippische BΓ€nkelsΓ€nger will take to the stage for a musical performance.
In addition to the musical entertainment, seven honorary certificates will be awarded to guests who have made a special contribution to the partnership between Detmold and the city of Zeitz. These guests will be recognised for their efforts in strengthening the bond between the two cities.
Mayor Hilker will also honour volunteers on site who have made a special contribution through their work during the festival.
The Europa celebration will begin at 5:45 PM, focusing on the 35th anniversary of the partnership between Detmold and Zeitz. A large medieval market will be set up, and tractor friends from Schling and scouts will present various activities.
The event is part of the celebrations for Heiligenkirchen's 1010th anniversary, which runs from May 9th to 11th. Admission to all events is free, making it an accessible and enjoyable experience for all.
