GEA broadens its offerings for water and wastewater purification - Enhanced by Flocmix technology, this expands the smart environmental technology

In a strategic move to strengthen its portfolio for water and wastewater treatment, GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft has acquired the established Flocmix brand. This acquisition will enable the seamless transition of expertise, service, and product development, expanding GEA's technical portfolio in water and wastewater technology.

GEA Intellicant, an intelligent, modular upgrade kit for GEA decanters, is already being used in the industry. With the integration of Flocmix products, customers will now benefit from an even broader range of solutions from a single source, including precise sensor technology and fully automated decanter solutions.

The acquisition focuses on greater efficiency, process reliability, and automation for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants. One of the key advantages of the Flocmix centrate sensor is its ability to detect turbidity or changes in color, automatically adjusting the operating parameters of the centrifuge to ensure optimal performance. This feature can potentially save tens of thousands of euros in disposal costs per year with GEA Intellicant.

Henni Weweler, Head of the GEA Business Line Environment at GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft, emphasized that Flocmix is a perfect fit for GEA's strategic orientation. Weweler highlighted that the acquisition will strengthen GEA's role as a driving force for innovation in water and wastewater technology.

Established structures at the site in northern Germany ensure proven quality, fast response times, and individual support for customers. GEA will build on Flocmix's existing technical foundation and many years of project experience, providing customers with the assurance of continued high-quality service.

GEA, one of the world's largest suppliers to the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries, focuses on machinery, plants, advanced process technology, components, and comprehensive services. In 2024, GEA generated revenues of about EUR 5.5 billion with more than 18,000 employees in more than 150 countries. The company's purpose is "Engineering for a better world," contributing significantly to sustainability by reducing CO2 emissions, plastic usage, and food waste.

With the addition of Flocmix, GEA strengthens its commitment to sustainability in the water and wastewater sector. The acquisition will enable GEA to provide more comprehensive solutions for wastewater treatment, helping to reduce the environmental impact of industrial processes and contribute to a more sustainable future.

GEA Intellicant provides monthly performance reports and contributes significantly to cost transparency. The acquisition is expected to further enhance GEA's capabilities in this area, enabling customers to make more informed decisions about their wastewater treatment processes and costs.

In summary, the acquisition of Flocmix by GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft is a significant step forward in the company's strategic orientation towards water and wastewater technology. The integration of Flocmix's expertise, products, and services will enable GEA to offer more comprehensive, efficient, and sustainable solutions for wastewater treatment, contributing to a more sustainable future for all.
