Former Georgia Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan, who served from 2019 to 2023, has made a political shift by joining the Democratic Party. This transition, which occurred in 2025, was prompted by his growing dissatisfaction with the Republican Party's approaches to issues such as health care, Medicaid, gun safety, immigration, and helping the less fortunate.
Duncan's discontent with the Republican Party began before the 2020 presidential election and intensified with President Donald Trump's attempts to overturn his loss to former President Joe Biden.
