New DFB Leadership Takes Shape: Holger Blask Set to Become General Secretary

The German Football Association (DFB) is on the cusp of a significant change, as Holger Blask is expected to take on the role of General Secretary. The appointments are set to be announced at today's Presidium meeting in Frankfurt am Main by DFB President Bernd Neuendorf.

Holger Blask, who has served as spokesperson for the management of the DFB GmbH & Co. KG since January 1, 2022, is expected to continue in both roles. His extensive experience within the German football community makes him an ideal candidate for the position.

Blask has been the DFB's Managing Director for Marketing, Sales, Events & Operations since August 2020. Prior to this, he spent 14 years with the German Football League (DFL), including as a member of the management board.

Heike Ullrich will also join the DFB's leadership team, serving as Vice-President in charge of women's and girls' football. Ullrich's appointment comes following the departure of Sabine Mammitzsch, who served in that role for nearly five years before stepping down at the DFB Bundestag in November 2024.

The DFB has yet to confirm Blask's appointment as General Secretary, but it is expected to be officially announced later today. With Blask's extensive experience and Ullrich's focus on women's and girls' football, the DFB is poised to move forward with a strong and diverse leadership team.

Stay tuned for more updates as the DFB's new leadership takes shape.
