Girl, Age 16, Missing After Gignod Fair, Has Been Located
In a relief for her family and the local community, a 16-year-old girl from Aosta was found safe on Tuesday evening. The search for the missing teenager began after a missing person report was filed by her parents around 11:30 am.
The girl had last been seen in Gignod, a nearby locality, and her phone was turned off from the moment she left the area. The last contact with a friend was around 5:30 am, and the message sent to her boyfriend was not worrying.
The regional search plan was activated to find the girl, with the Carabinieri, firefighters, and Valdostan Alpine Rescue operators involved in the operation. The search focused on Allein, a nearby commune, where the signal from the girl's cell phone was last detected.
The girl had gone missing after a village festival, and it was reported that she had an argument with a boy who was not her boyfriend, as well as with a friend, before disappearing. The argument occurred after she left a nearby bar in Gignod.
The girl was found around 7 pm in a ravine near the Gignod gas station. It was discovered that she had fallen after climbing over a guardrail and was stuck there.
The girl attends high school and works at a pastry shop in the Media Valle d'Aosta this summer. There is no information available about the identity of the young man who had a dispute with her before her disappearance.
The search was initiated by her parents and was carried out at the request of the Aosta Carabinieri through the regional civil protection. The helicopter with the Valdostan Alpine Rescue operators flew over the area multiple times during the search.
The community is relieved by the safe recovery of the girl and expresses their gratitude to the emergency services for their diligent work. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding her disappearance is still ongoing.
