Government Official Shelar Urges Innovators as Lions Clubs Emphasize Annual Investment of Rs. 500 Crore in Local Communities

In a grand ceremony held in Mumbai, the inaugural edition of the We Serve India National Awards was concluded, marking the culmination of zonal events in Guwahati, Kochi, and Surat. This initiative, a joint venture by Lions Clubs International and Forbes India, aimed to recognise and honour grassroots efforts and large-scale impact projects in various sectors.

Ashish Shelar, Cabinet Minister of Information Technology & Cultural Affairs, Government of Maharahstra, reiterated the government's commitment to fostering an environment where service-driven organisations and individuals can thrive. He emphasised that service is the foundation of a progressive society and underscored the need for efforts to be designed and synchronized for social upliftment.

The awards ceremony was a testament to the power of community-driven advocacy, as partnerships between public welfare programs and grassroots organisations were celebrated. Raimati Ghuria, known as the Queen of Millet, was honoured for her contributions to Sustainable Agriculture, while Aditya Jitendra Kumar Mehta, Seema Sayyad, Abhishek Ray, Preethi Srinivasan, and Janani Venkitesh were recognised for their efforts in Educational Learning & Skill Development, Women's Empowerment, Wildlife Conservation, Health Care and Sanitation, and Waste Reduction and Recycling, respectively.

Arvinder Pal Singh, International First Vice President of Lions Clubs International, highlighted the organisation's annual investment of over Rs. 500 crores in community development. He emphasised that the Lions Clubs operate in an era of collaboration and aim to empower local stakeholders through resources and structured support.

The awards brought together experts, innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs, creating a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration. Sidharth Saini, Chief Operating Officer, News18 Studio, expressed his support for celebrating unsung heroes driving national progress.

Experts also emphasised the importance of tangible impact on the ground for large-scale community initiatives. Impact assessments are crucial tools in evaluating outreach efforts to refine strategies for maximum effectiveness.

Ashish Shelar invited participants of the We Serve India National Awards to join the state government's quarterly roundtable discussions, further strengthening the bridge between government initiatives and grassroots action.
