New Officers Strengthen Gelsenkirchen Police Force

The Gelsenkirchen Police Headquarters welcomed 42 new officers on September 1, 2025, as part of a strategic reinforcement to strengthen the city's security.

The new officers, hailing from various offices including Münster, Düsseldorf, Essen, Recklinghausen, Coesfeld, Duisburg, and the State Office for Training and Further Education, have begun their service at the headquarters. Among them, 27 officers completed their training on Friday and have been assigned to Gelsenkirchen.

Police President Tim Frommeyer expressed his pleasure about the reinforcement, stating that the new officers are urgently needed. He welcomed the new officers along with other leading forces, expressing his confidence that they will help ensure security and order in Gelsenkirchen.

The remaining 15 officers requested a transfer to Gelsenkirchen for personal reasons. They come from agencies in Münster, Düsseldorf, Essen, Recklinghausen, Coesfeld, Duisburg, or the State Office for Training and Education.

The new officers will be deployed in all areas, primarily in patrol and shift service. Their presence is expected to contribute significantly to strengthening the subjective sense of security of the people in the city and improving the objective security situation.
