Greetings to the fresh recruits - Welcome aboard at Dortmund Police Department!

In a significant boost for public safety, 172 new officers were welcomed at the Regional Training Center in Dortmund-Aplerbeck on Monday, September 1st, 2025. This expansion comes as part of the Dortmund Police's ongoing efforts to reinforce their presence and combat crime effectively.

The new colleagues will immediately reinforce the locations in Dortmund and Lünen, taking up duties in various departments. The jurisdiction of these new officers includes over 500 kilometers of highways and is responsible for the safety of almost 700,000 people.

The ceremony, presided over by Gregor Lange, the Police President of Dortmund, saw the oath of office administered to the newly appointed Police Commissioners. Among the new commissioners are 49 officers transferred from other authorities and 8 government inspectors.

Notably, the 115 newly appointed Police Commissioners had previously completed their dual studies. Simultaneously, 341 police commissioner trainees and government inspector trainees began their dual studies on September 1, 2025.

Gregor Lange emphasized the importance of earning the trust of the people and acting professionally, responsibly, and with consideration for the needs and peculiarities of the people. He also highlighted the need for qualified new talent due to increasing demands and complex tasks.

The Dortmund police have implemented the "Focus" presence concept, making officers more visible in the city center and northern city center to combat crime in public spaces and strengthen the security feeling of the Dortmund population. The force focuses on the investigation and prevention of criminal offenses, traffic accident prevention, and combating extremism, child pornography, and building trust with a diverse society.

As the new officers embark on their service at the PP Dortmund, Gregor Lange wished them success and emphasized that people critically examine the actions of the police in these times and that the police must accept this.
