Malaysian Women's Doubles Pair Reaches BWF World Championships Final

In an exhilarating semi-final clash at the Adidas Arena in Paris, the Malaysian pair of Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah have secured their spot in the final of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Championships. They defeated the world number three Japanese pair, Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida, in a dramatic 68-minute match with a score of 14-21, 21-13, 21-12.

This is a historic achievement for Pearly and Thinaah, as they become the first Malaysian women’s doubles pair to advance to the final of the BWF World Championships. Their previous best performance was a quarter-final appearance in the 2023 edition.

The Japanese pair, Matsuyama and Shida, will have to be content with taking home the bronze medal. This victory marks only the third win for Pearly and Thinaah against the Japanese pair in 16 encounters.

Pearly and Thinaah stayed calm and composed throughout the match, displaying an impressive level of resilience and determination. Pearly expressed her joy in an audio clip shared by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), saying that words can't describe how happy they are to be in the final.

The final match will take place tomorrow, where Pearly and Thinaah will face either Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning of China or Japan's Rin Iwanaga and Kie Nakanishi. The Malaysian pair will be aiming to make history by winning the World Championships for the first time.

This is Pearly and Thinaah's best-ever achievement at the World Championships in four outings. They have marched into the final of the BWF World Championships, and the whole of Malaysia will be cheering them on as they compete for the title tomorrow.
