Guiding You on Tall Shelves: Transforming Any Room with Elevated Storage Solutions

In the latest installment of our FreshCoat series, we're diving into a DIY home project that's both budget-friendly and stylish - track shelving. This project, created by interior stylist and lifestyle blogger Jasmin Leheta, has transformed her home and is now the talk of her blog.

For this project, you'll need a few essential supplies: twin tracks, twin track brackets, laminate or wood shelves, 2.5-inch and 1.5-inch wood screws, a stud finder, power drill, drill bits, level, stepladder, painter's tape, Rust-oleum metal primer, and Rust-oleum gold spray paint.

First, mark the bottom of the wood where each screw hole will go, remove the shelves, and drill the holes. Then, apply two to three coats of gold spray paint to the tracks, allowing each coat to dry before applying the next. Secure the first track to the wall using a level, a pencil, and 2.5-inch wood screws. Repeat the process for the second track.

Next, place the brackets in the slots of the tracks and decide on the spacing for the wood shelves. Fasten each shelf to the brackets with 1.5-inch wood screws. Use a stud finder to locate the studs on the wall and mark them with painter's tape for added support.

Track shelving is not only attractive and customizable, giving the look of high design, but it also offers a functional value. It can showcase collections and is a ton of fun to style. However, it's important to note that there is a weight limit for the shelves, with small to medium plants being suitable. Heavier items should be placed directly over the brackets for added support.

Designing and decorating a home can be an empowering practice, especially when it allows for personal expression. For Jasmin, this project was no exception. She found joy in decorating the shelves to showcase her personal style, making the room feel bigger and bringing a sense of happiness to her everyday life.

The total cost for this DIY shelving project was about $250, making it an affordable solution for anyone looking to revamp their space. So, if you're ready to take on a fun and rewarding project, give track shelving a try!

The FreshCoat series continues to bring you exciting DIY home projects, so stay tuned for more. As for Jasmin, she's already planning her next project - we can't wait to see what she comes up with next!
