Half a century of urban-regional collaboration and cooperation

In a beautiful display of artistic collaboration, the towns of Ried and Landshut are honouring their 50-year partnership with a joint exhibition. The event, which runs until the 6th of October in Landshut, will then be moved to Ried from the 25th of October to the 23rd of November.

The Landshut exhibition, curated by Helmut Stix, showcases a variety of works from local and international artists. Notable contributions include paintings and collaged mixed techniques from Helmut Stix and Rainer A. Riepl, artistic photographs from Renate Schrattenecker-Fischer, Klaus Zeugner, and the Landshut artist collective HEMIGA.

The Landshut works, prominently featuring the number 50, celebrate the significant milestone in the partnership between the two towns. One of the highlights is the display of "The 4 Friends", made from wooden building blocks, symbolizing peaceful coexistence and abstract guardian angels as protectors of a peaceful world.

Andreas Sagmeister, a Ried-based artist, has also contributed sculptures to the exhibition. The Ried artists, including Sagmeister, Rainer A. Riepl, Klaus Zeugner, and Renate Schrattenecker-Fischer, have focused their creations on the theme of "connections".

The exhibition will be opened by Mayor Alexander Putz of Ried and Bernhard Zwielehner, his counterpart from Landshut, in Ried on the 24th of October at 7 pm. The exhibition in Ried will be on display in the town hall foyer from the 22nd of September.

The partnership agreement between Ried and Landshut was signed in 1974, marking the beginning of this long-standing friendship. This year, both towns are celebrating this milestone anniversary. The exhibition in Landshut is open on Tuesdays to Fridays and Sundays from 1 to 5 pm, and on Saturdays from 11 am to 5 pm. The exact names of the Landshut artists participating in the Ried exhibition could not be ascertained at the time of writing.

This joint exhibition serves as a testament to the enduring friendship between Ried and Landshut, and a celebration of the artistic talent that thrives in both towns.
