Healthcare organization EIOH enters partnership with Galilee Medical Center

In a significant development, the Eastman Institute for Oral Health (EIOH) in Rochester, New York, has formed a new partnership with the Galilee Medical Center's Galilee College of Dental Sciences in Israel. The formal collaboration was marked by a signing ceremony attended by several dignitaries, including CEO Masad Barhoum, various professors, the president of the medical center's Friends Association, and representatives from the College of Dentistry and the University of Rochester.

At the heart of this collaboration is Dr. Hala Karayanni-Matanis, who is currently participating in a fellowship at EIOH. Dr. Karayanni-Matanis, who recently completed her residency in Oral Medicine at the Galilee College of Dental Sciences, is working under Dr. Eli Eliav, the director and professor of EIOH.

Dr. Karayanni-Matanis' work at EIOH involves the educational, clinical, and research components of the Orofacial Pain Division, as well as Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. She is working in collaboration with Dr. Maryam Altuhafy, Orofacial Pain assistant professor, and Dr. Qian Wang, a staff scientist, on a protein isolation process as part of a complex study. The aim of this research is to determine the molecular mechanism associated with exercise-induced hypoalgesia.

The collaboration between EIOH and the Galilee Medical Center's Galilee College of Dental Sciences is the first faculty exchange initiative. This partnership is part of EIOH's ongoing efforts to develop the next generation of leaders in the field. EIOH has already established formal partnerships with institutions in Paris, Rome, London, Sweden, as well as its sister Institutions. The partner universities include the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York, USA, and various international institutions such as the University of Chile in Santiago, Chile, and the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil.

Dr. Eli Eliav, DMD, PhD, expressed delight about the formal collaboration. He stated that the faculty at EIOH are amazing and eager to share their knowledge. He further added that this partnership will foster a rich exchange of ideas and expertise between the two institutions.

Dr. Karayanni-Matanis expressed her gratitude for the opportunity and stated that she is enjoying her fellowship at EIOH and learning a lot every day. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the beautiful Rochester area with her family.

As the partnership between EIOH and the Galilee Medical Center's Galilee College of Dental Sciences continues to grow, it is expected that there will be many more exciting developments in the field of Oral Health. EIOH has also increased its partnerships and collaborations with universities worldwide, including Meharry Medical College in Tennessee, universities in Italy, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Israel, India, Argentina, Poland, and China. This collaboration is a testament to EIOH's commitment to advancing the field of Oral Health and developing the next generation of leaders in the field.
