Heavy congestion is evident on today's roads.
On several German autobahn sections, traffic jams have caused significant delays this weekend, as predicted by the ADAC due to the busy summer season and ongoing holidays in various regions.
On the A6 from Heilbronn to Mannheim, a 11-kilometer traffic jam between Sinsheim-Süd junction and Walldorf interchange has resulted in at least an hour of delay for commuters. Similarly, on the A8 from Stuttgart to Karlsruhe, there is a 7-kilometer traffic jam between the Heimsheim junction and the Pforzheim-Nord junction, causing at least 47 minutes of delay.
The A7 highway, which connects Hamburg to both Flensburg and Hannover, has been particularly affected. A 13-kilometer traffic jam can be found between Neumünster-Nord junction and Rendsburg/Büdelsdorf junction on the Hamburg-Flensburg stretch, with at least 40 minutes of delay. On the Hamburg-Hannover section, a 11-kilometer traffic jam exists between Schneverdingen junction and Dorfmark junction, causing up to an hour of congestion.
In addition, there is a blockage on the A7 Ulm towards Fuessen/Reutte, between the Reinertshoftunnel and the Fuessen border tunnel. Meanwhile, on the A7 Fulda towards Würzburg, there is a 7-kilometer traffic jam between the Fulda triangle and the Bad Brückenau/Wildflecken junction, resulting in at least 46 minutes of delay.
Interestingly, the A10 Villach towards Salzburg in Austria, although not within Germany, has also been heavily congested. Between Lammertal and Salzburg, a 22-kilometer traffic jam has been reported, causing at least 53 minutes of delay. This section is part of the transit routes affected by heavy travel during the European Bike Week and holiday return traffic.
Despite the predicted mega-traffic jams, some sections have not yet materialized as anticipated. Regardless, these long traffic jams have been a common occurrence on the mentioned German autobahn sections, making for a challenging weekend of travel for many.
