High-Performance Cars: Examination of McLaren MP4-12C, Hot Hatchback Races in Monaco and Italy, with Ross Noble Alongside
In the world of automotive entertainment, the much-anticipated Series 17 of Top Gear is set to begin on BBC2 on January 8th, 2012, airing at 8pm UK time.
The second episode of the series promises a thrilling lineup, featuring a comparison of hot hatchback cars in Italy. The participants drove the cars around the iconic Monaco Grand Prix circuit, with the results of the comparison to be revealed in the episode. The cars being compared are the Citroen DS3 Racing, Fiat 500C Abarth, and Renault Clio RS.
Meanwhile, Jeremy Clarkson will test the new McLaren MP4 12C on the track at Dunsfold in a separate segment. The McLaren MP4-12C, a high-performing supercar, has already been tested at the Nurburgring and the Top Gear test track. It achieved the fastest ever time for a production road car round the Top Gear Test Track at Dunsfold in 1.14.1. However, its styling has been criticized as being a little generic.
In a related development, McLaren Automotive has released a video of the development process on the McLaren MP4-12C. The boys are also filming a supercar piece in Lecce, Italy, with the Lamborghini Aventador, McLaren MP4-12C, and Noble M600.
Ross Noble is the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car for this week's episode, which airs tonight at 8pm UK time on BBC2. The episode also features a special segment filmed in India for the Top Gear Christmas Special. Bernie Ecclestone, Christian Horner, and Flavio Briatore rode along in the cars during the filming.
Interestingly, a video showing the Top Gear special in India is already known. In another episode, the presenters test the Chevrolet Corvette C6 ZR1 on the Monaco Formula 1 circuit. This segment will air a week later than the Fifth Gear comparison of the 458 Italia and the McLaren MP4 12C.
