In the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, a new player has emerged on the battlefield - the E-Roller, an electric scooter manufactured by Latvia's Global Wolf Motors.

Weighing approximately 74 kilograms, the E-Rollers are lighter than traditional motorcycles, making them easier to handle and manoeuvre in tight spaces. This feature has proven invaluable for Ukrainian forces, who use these scooters for quick and quiet off-road transport to approach Russian lines, transport supplies, and even counter drones.

Ukraine currently boasts 11 of these agile vehicles, and units have requested more. In 2023, Latvia donated an additional 20 E-Rollers to Ukraine, along with other equipment. These scooters, known as Mosphera Military E-Rollers, have become a vital asset for Ukrainian troops.

The E-Rollers offer advantages over other vehicles in this war. Their smaller, lighter size allows them to sneak behind enemy lines undetected, and their quiet operation better enables soldiers to hear incoming drones. In contrast, motorcycles, while also advantageous due to their noise drowning out approaching drone sounds, are often too large and noisy for stealthy manoeuvres.

The demand for vehicles, both military and civilian, is constant on both sides of the conflict. Ukrainian military units and volunteer groups are running crowdfunding campaigns to acquire cars and other vehicles for soldiers. A Ukrainian unit even established a motorcycle attack unit earlier this year to quickly breach Russian positions.

However, the use of these electric scooters has not been without contention. Reports suggest that Russians are also using E-Rollers in swift, scattered attacks. The E-Rollers' versatility and effectiveness have shown the company, Global Wolf Motors, that they have even more potential in a real war.

As the conflict continues, both sides are seeking small, fast, and flexible vehicles to supplement traditional combat machines, including civilian pickups, ATVs, motorcycles, rollers, and bicycles. The E-Rollers can be used for delivering supplies to the front lines, reconnaissance, and quickly evacuating lightly wounded troops. Despite the challenges, the E-Rollers have proven to be a valuable addition to Ukraine's arsenal, offering a unique blend of speed, stealth, and manoeuvrability in a war where every advantage counts.
