Highway between Mexico and Pachuca obstructed this morning; discover the cause
Highway Blockades Expected to Disrupt Travel in Mexico City Region
Union drivers and a group of IMSS patients are set to stage protests on the Mexico-Pachuca highway this weekend, potentially causing disruptions for travellers.
The protests are scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 10, and are expected to continue until Monday, March 11. The blockade on the Mexico-Pachuca highway is planned in the direction of Mexico City, affecting points such as Tecamac, Ecatepec, and Tizayuca.
The union drivers are participating in a national strike, demanding more safety on the roads, while the IMSS patients are protesting for lack of treatments. There is also a separate protest by IMSS patients with kidney failure on the same highway.
In addition to the highway blockades, the LP gas strike has already paralyzed major highways and roads in CDMX and the state of Mexico. On Sunday, March 10, the group of protesters called CNTE (Coordinadora Nacional de Trabajadores de la Educaciรณn) used banners and blankets to block traffic on the Mexico-Pachuca highway.
Travellers are advised to plan their journeys carefully and to allow extra time for delays. It is recommended to check for updates on traffic conditions before setting out, and to avoid non-essential travel during the blockades if possible.
The authorities are working to resolve the issues that have led to the protests and to clear the blockades as quickly as possible to minimise disruptions for travellers.
