Historically significant milestone achieved by Cristiano Ronaldo, making him the first player ever to reach this career landmark; however, his fortunes continue to be marred by adversity.

Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the greatest footballers of all time, continues to make headlines, both on and off the pitch. Let's take a look at some key moments in his career and his recent penalty shootout drama in Saudi Arabia.

Ronaldo's time in Italy with Juventus wasn't as successful as his stints elsewhere. However, it was his perceived lack of support from former Real Madrid president Florentino Perez that led him to leave the Spanish giants for Juventus in 2018.

During his time at Real Madrid, Ronaldo scored an impressive 450 goals in 438 appearances, winning the Champions League on four occasions. His move to Madrid in 2008 was a world-record transfer, costing £80m.

After a brief and controversial return to Manchester United, Ronaldo found a new home in the Middle East. He signed a lucrative deal with Al-Nassr, reportedly worth around £500million, which also includes shares in the club.

Ronaldo has continued to score goals for Al-Nassr, reaching a total of 107 games and 100 goals. His latest milestone came in the Saudi Arabian cup final against Al-Ahli, where he scored his 100th goal for the club from a penalty kick, putting Al-Nassr up 1-0.

However, the match didn't go as planned for Ronaldo and Al-Nassr. Marcelo Brozovic equalised for Al-Ahli in the 83rd minute, and the game went to a tense penalty shootout. Ronaldo confidently dispatched his spot kick, but everyone else missed for Al-Nassr, allowing Al-Ahli to win the shootout and the cup.

Despite this setback, Ronaldo has now scored 100+ goals for four different clubs: Real Madrid, Manchester United, Juventus, and Al-Nassr. He is currently on 939 career goals, pursuing a total of 1,000.

The Saudi Super Cup was won by Al-Ahli after a 2-2 draw and a 5-3 penalty shootout victory. The contest for Al-Ahli was won by Galeno, who scored the final penalty kick.

Ronaldo's journey in football continues, and with his unwavering determination and talent, there's no telling what records he might break next.
