Holy Cross Journey to the 2024 March for Life Protest
In a series of significant events, students and leadership from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, have been actively involved in Life Fest and the National March for Life in Washington D.C.
On Friday, the students attended Life Fest at the D.C. Armory and participated in the rally. Dressed in purple hats, they braved the cold weather, their spirits remaining high throughout the event.
The following day, seven students and two priests from the College of the Holy Cross joined the 2024 National March for Life. Fr. Jim Hayes, who serves as the faculty advisor for the Students for Life group, was among them.
Rev. Philip L. Boroughs, S.J., President of the College of the Holy Cross, announced the start of the Mission Priority Examen on campus. This new initiative aims to foster a deeper understanding and commitment to the college's mission.
On Saturday, the students also attended the Cardinal O'Connor Conference on Life at Georgetown University. His Eminence, Seaรกn Patrick O'Malley, O.F.M. Cap., Archbishop of Boston, gave the keynote address at the conference. Margaret "Peggy" Hartshorn, Ph.D., the former President and now Chair of the Board of Heartbeat International, was also present.
The Students for Life at the College of the Holy Cross are led by co-chairs Kate Wheeler '25 and Fiona McCarthy '25. Fr. Jim Hayes presided over the first student Mass offered in the chapel of the new Jesuit community residence.
Sadly, Rev. Philip L. Boroughs, S.J., will retire at the end of the 2020-2021 academic year after nine years of service. His departure marks the end of an era for the College of the Holy Cross. Furthermore, Rev. William R. Campbell, S.J., '87, Vice President for Mission, will be leaving Holy Cross as well.
These events highlight the College of the Holy Cross's commitment to life issues and its continuous efforts to engage students in meaningful experiences that align with its mission.
