Honors piano legend Oscar Peterson with a custom-made 'Night Train' piano from Rhodes.
The Rhodes Custom Shop is set to release a new masterpiece, the Rhodes MK8 'Night Train'. This bespoke electric piano pays homage to jazz legend Oscar Peterson, drawing inspiration from his 1963 album of the same name, while honouring the significant personality of Ray Charles on the occasion of his 100th birthday.
The Night Train is built on the acclaimed MK8 platform, featuring the same hand-assembled components and signature sound as the flagship model. It is a limited-edition model, with production ending on September 18th, 2025. Each unit is built to order, individually numbered, and will not be reissued once the window closes.
The piano boasts a pinstriped sustain pedal, a classic black tolex base, and custom logo plates exclusive to this model. The exterior is adorned with a smoked transparent hood, a custom black harp, reflective chrome front panel, and custom I/O panels in deep Midnight Purple and bold Freedom Blue.
Under the hood, the Night Train offers a 73-note precision keyboard manufactured by Kluge Klaviaturen GmbH (Steinway Group). The MK8 Analogue Preamp includes parametric EQ, analogue drive, envelope control, wah, vari-pan (with 4 wave shapes), audio-rate modulation, and dual expression pedal inputs. For an additional £1299, the Rhodes Custom Stereo Analogue FX Processor with compressor, phaser, chorus, delay, and optional MIDI integration can be added.
The Night Train is a part of a new chapter in Rhodes' history, returning to the principles, aesthetic, craftsmanship, and pride of Harold Rhodes' originals. Orders for the Night Train will open on Wednesday, September 4th at 3 PM BST and close on Wednesday, September 18th at 3 PM BST.
The pricing for the Night Train is £11,995 GBP (+ VAT), €13,995 EUR (+ local taxes), and $15,995 USD. The piano will be available for a limited time exclusively through the Rhodes Custom Shop. This is an opportunity for music enthusiasts to own a piece of history, a tribute to the past while looking towards the future.
