In the city of Hünfeld, a new initiative has been launched to address the issue of disrespect towards emergency responders and law enforcement during crisis situations. The "Respect for our Safety" campaign, officially presented at the town hall on Monday evening, aims to counteract the heckling and insulting of rescue forces and police officers.

The campaign was inspired by the Blue Light Day in June 2023, an event that highlighted the challenges faced by emergency services and law enforcement. During the Blue Light Day, it was observed that these organizations often face assaults, such as federal police officers being heckled on duty and rescue service helpers being shouted at while performing CPR.

The posters for the "Respect for our Safety" campaign feature representatives of various emergency and aid organizations in Hünfeld. The models on these posters are local volunteers who help in emergencies. They include members from the Hünfeld district association of the German Red Cross, the Hünfeld fire brigades, the Hünfeld local branch of THW, the Hünfeld police station, the Helios Clinic Hünfeld, the Hünfeld branch of DLRG, and the Federal Police. These individuals were photographed by the Hünfeld photo club.

The campaign's slogan, "Here to help us!", is prominently displayed on the posters. The posters aim to give a face to the often volunteer helpers and rescuers in Hünfeld, reminding citizens that these individuals are there to help them. Citizens are encouraged to let these helpers and rescuers do their job without interference.

Mayor Benjamin Tschesnok expressed that such behavior is unacceptable and that those helping others deserve respect. In an interview with HIT RADIO FFH, Tschesnok emphasized that these aid and emergency services are there to help the citizens of Hünfeld.

The posters and corresponding videos are available on the city of Hünfeld's homepage (ffh.de) for public viewing. They are also displayed prominently on the buildings of the respective organizations in Hünfeld. The campaign's information can also be found on the city of Hünfeld's app.

The Fotoclub Hünfeld provided support for the creation of the posters and videos for the "Respect for our Safety" campaign. Various organizations such as the DRK, Osthessen police, federal police, THW, and DLRG participated in the Blue Light Day, demonstrating their commitment to the cause.

This initiative serves as a reminder to the citizens of Hünfeld to show respect and gratitude towards the emergency responders and law enforcement who put their lives on the line to keep the community safe.
