Husband allegedly subjected woman to abuse, insisted on Swift Dzire vehicle: Woman's mother who suffered burn injuries in Greater Noida incident recounts ordeal
In a shocking incident that has sent waves of sorrow and outrage through the community, a woman in Greater Noida was allegedly beaten and set on fire by her in-laws. The victim, identified as Nikki, was married into the Greater Noida family in Sirsa in 2016.
The horrific incident came to light when Nikki was admitted to Fortis Hospital with severe burn injuries on August 21. Despite the medical team's best efforts, she succumbed to her injuries on the way to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.
The Greater Noida police have confirmed that a case has been registered against Nikki's husband, Vipin, and his family. Vipin, along with his son-in-law, had reportedly demanded a Swift Dzire car, a Scorpio at the wedding, 1 lakh rupees, 2 lakh rupees, and a Bullet bike.
The in-laws repeatedly demanded cash, vehicles, and subjected Nikki to abuse when the family failed to meet their demands. Nikki's mother has claimed that her daughter was tortured by the in-laws over dowry demands.
Following the incident, Vipin has been taken into custody, and teams have been formed to arrest the other accused. The woman's post-mortem was conducted before her family cremated her, and the police have confirmed that her death was due to torture and setting on fire by her in-laws.
Nikki was married for seven years, and the incident occurred in Greater Noida. The victim's mother is demanding swift action from authorities and has called for a "death sentence" for the accused.
