Ice track extravaganza reveals the blend of automobiles, societal trends, and fashion at the globe's trendiest ice racing venue
In the heart of the Austrian Alps, the FAT International Ice Race took place this year, with Polestar making a significant impact as a sponsor. The event, a unique blend of racing and fashion, showcased Polestar's commitment to an electric future.
Polestar set up a base camp, the Electric Garage, which functioned as a hub for experiencing electric mobility. The centerpiece of the Electric Garage was an elevated Polestar 5, a four-door Grand Tourer that will become Polestar's most powerful car. The futuristic space featured high-tech racing simulators, bespoke racing helmet painting, and a distinctively modern look and feel.
Shana Claessens, a Belgian racing driver, reflected on her experience driving a Polestar 4 at Circuit Zolder, her home track. Thed Bjork, one of Sweden's greatest ever racing drivers, also participated and shared his history with Polestar and Cyan Racing. Swimming superstar Sarah SjoΜstroΜm also joined in the fun, expressing her enjoyment.
The main action of the event took place trackside, where vehicles with spiked wheels raced. The Electric Garage was not intended to be just a display of cars, but rather a platform for creating thought-provoking, hands-on moments.
Polestar Architect, Dragan Pavlovic, mentioned the challenge and inspiration of creating a venue for the event in the Austrian Alps in a short amount of time. Dan Persson, Polestar's Strategic Creative Director, emphasized that the Electric Garage is not just about showcasing cars, but creating a movement.
Polestar presented the Arctic Circle collection at the race, a series of one-of-a-kind show cars with specialized ice racing tyres and distinctive white and yellow coats. The Mille Miglia, a race and fashion parade, is unlike anything you've ever seen and will take place in 2025. With Polestar's innovative and sustainable designs, it promises to be an event unlike any other.
The FAT International Ice Race was not just about the race, but about experiencing electric mobility in a unique and exciting way. Polestar brought its unique take on racing culture to the paddock during the event, offering a variety of "blink-and-you'll-miss-it" activities, including Flying Bulls, helicopter rides, and special VIP paddocks. The Electric Garage, with its futuristic feel and interactive elements, was the perfect setting for this electric racing extravaganza.
