Identified: Top Performers of Folk Songs at IYAM Event
In the heart of the Ust Khatin area, the vibrant Ysyakh Tuimaada-2024 festival was celebrated, and a significant highlight was the Dyürüsken Kuolas folk song contest. Participants from various districts, including Yakutsk, Namsky, Tomponsky, Megino-Kangalassky, Gorny, and Tatatinisky, gathered to immerse themselves in the richness of Yakut folk music.
Among the adults, Anna Ivanova from the group "Dyieréei," Megino-Kangalassky District, took the first place. The family ensemble "Udyuor Utuma," Yakutsk, secured the second place, while the ethnic folk group "Dyaagay," Gorny District, claimed the third spot.
The contest was not limited to professional ensembles; schoolchildren also had their chance to shine. "Dyöngküüdé Kytalyktara" from the Nyurbinsky District emerged as the first-place winner among schoolchildren, with the 3rd "a" class students of MOBU "Saha Gymnasia" in Yakutsk and the 2nd "b" class students of the same institution securing the third and second places, respectively.
Ensemble "Dyürül," Namsky District, won the first place among ensembles, followed by "Folk ensemble "Kün Kyirpahtera", Tomponsky District" in second place, and "Folk ensembles "Tuyaarar" and "Tolomon," Yakutsk College of Culture and Arts named after A.D. Makarov" in third place.
The contest was not just a competition but a memorable experience for all participants. A member of the "Dyaagay" ensemble shared that folk songs should be preserved to maintain traditions, expressing the significance of the event in preserving Yakut culture.
In the "Kylaan Chypchaal" nomination, the ensemble "Wolban" from the Tatatinsky District was recognised for their exceptional contribution to Yakut folk music.
Despite the digital age, the contest took place in a region where VKontakte, Classmates, WhatsApp, Telegram, and Twitter are widely used. However, the Dyürüsken Kuolas contest provided a platform for participants to connect offline, fostering a sense of community and shared passion for Yakut folk music.
