In the autumn and winter of 2025/2026, the prevention team at the Police Station Celle will be offering five self-defense courses. Each course, consisting of four evenings, aims to equip participants with strategies to protect and defend themselves in various situations.

The courses are scheduled to begin on the following dates: - Course 1: 30th October 2025 to the three following Thursdays - Course 2: 19th November 2025 to the three following Wednesdays - Course 3: 7th January 2026 to the three following Wednesdays - Course 4: 29th January 2026 to the three following Thursdays - Course 5: 18th February 2026 to the three following Wednesdays

These courses are relevant in Celle city and district due to past incidents of violence against women in broad daylight, parks, restaurants, and other public places. Many young girls and women in Celle have experienced unwanted sexual touching, verbal harassment, or physical attacks.

The self-defense course will address numbers, data, facts, and myths related to self-defense. Participants will not only learn physical strategies for self-defense but also how to assert themselves and set clear boundaries. Additionally, they will learn to deal with fear and reduce panic moments.

Christian Riebandt, head of the prevention team at the Police Station Celle, emphasizes that resistance is worthwhile in violent situations. He encourages everyone to take advantage of these courses to empower themselves and feel safer in their daily lives.

The self-defense courses will take place at Jägerstraße 1 in Celle. Each course carries a flat rate of 25 euros, payable at the beginning of the course.
