In a stunning display, Taylen Green sets a personal best by tossing six touchdown passes, leading Arkansas to a dominating victory over Alabama A&M.

Arkansas Razorbacks Dominate Alabama A&M in Opening Game

The Arkansas Razorbacks kicked off their 2023 season with a convincing victory over Alabama A&M, winning 45-7. In the first-ever meeting between the two teams, the Razorbacks showcased their dominance on both sides of the ball.

Quarterback Taylen Green led the charge, throwing a stellar six touchdown passes in the game. Green completed 24 out of 31 passes for a total of 322 yards, showcasing his accuracy and precision.

Green's first touchdown of the day was a 14-yard pass to CJ Brown during the third quarter, followed by a 5-yard touchdown to the same receiver, increasing the lead to 24-7. CJ Brown finished the game with two touchdown receptions.

O'Mega Blake also had a standout performance, catching a 6-yard touchdown pass from Green with six seconds left in the first half, and amassing 121 receiving yards throughout the game. Raylen Sharpe, Jalen Brown, and Mike Washington Jr. also found the end zone, contributing to the Razorbacks' impressive offensive display.

On the ground, Rakeem Washington led the Razorbacks' rushing attack with 79 yards on 9 carries.

Defensively, the Razorbacks had a 29-12 edge in first downs and didn't commit a turnover. Quarterback Cornelious Brown IV completed 9 passes for 130 yards for Alabama A&M, but the Razorbacks' defense held strong, limiting the Bulldogs' scoring opportunities.

Alabama A&M did manage to score once, with Maurice Edwards IV running for a touchdown to complete a 75-yard, 7-play drive. However, the Razorbacks' offense quickly responded, scoring on their first third-quarter possession, covering 66 yards in 6 plays.

Scott Starzyk kicked a 53-yard field goal for Arkansas at 3:37 in the first quarter, providing an early lead for the Razorbacks.

Head coach Sam Pittman, entering his sixth season at the helm of the Razorbacks, will be pleased with his team's performance in this opening game. Arkansas led 31-7 at halftime, scoring 14 points in the final 2 minutes, before punting on their final three possessions in the second half.

The Razorbacks will look to build on this victory as they continue their season, with their next game scheduled against a tough opponent.
