In collaboration, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and Benue State have unveiled the multi-faceted "One Student, One Computer & One Skill+" initiative.
In a significant step towards digital transformation, the Benue Digital Infrastructure Company (BDIC) Plc hosted an event in Makurdi that celebrated a landmark digital literacy initiative. The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) was present, aligning with their mission to build a digitally inclusive and knowledge-driven Nigeria.
The highlight of the event was the graduation of over 80 participants from a Summer Tech Training program. The initiative, aimed at equipping the next generation with skills for a rapidly evolving digital economy, focused on software development, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, emerging technologies, and workplace readiness.
Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, representing the Director General of NITDA, congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to inspire change within their communities. He emphasised the importance of the "One Student, One Computer & One Skill+" initiative, which was officially launched at the event. This program aims to provide students with access to devices and skills training, creating a pipeline of future innovators and problem-solvers.
The event also saw the induction of Digital Benue Children Ambassadors, a program aimed at nurturing young digital culture champions. Mr. Ajayi Babajide, NITDA's Director of Zonal Office Coordination, urged the graduates to take pride in their new roles and use their creativity and skills for digital transformation.
The "One Student, One Computer & One Skill+" initiative was viewed as a bold step towards positioning Benue as a hub for digital skills development. The event reinforced the alignment of the initiative with NITDA's mission, further unveiling the commitment of Benue State to bridging the digital divide.
The Summer Tech Training program and the "One Student, One Computer & One Skill+" initiative are significant strides in digital literacy and skills development. These initiatives are expected to foster a new generation of digital innovators and contributors, shaping Benue's digital future.
