A fire broke out overnight on Saturday in a seven-story residential and commercial building in Berlin's Gesundbrunnen district. The blaze started in the basement of the building and has since spread to several upper floors, causing smoke to fill the stairwell, necessitating the evacuation of residents.

The Berlin Fire Department was alerted to the fire through residents' windows. Firefighters are currently battling the blaze from multiple angles to contain the situation. A total of 46 people were rescued from the building without any injuries.

The Red Cross has set up a shelter for displaced residents, providing them with essential aid and support. The nearby businesses have been temporarily closed due to the fire. The local authorities have requested the public to avoid the area to ensure safety.

The Berlin police have cordoned off the area around the building, and the smoke has spread beyond the building's perimeter. Some residents are reported to be unaccounted for, and the search and rescue efforts are ongoing.
