In Rhine-Main area investigations, multiple cases of trafficking for "de-compression injections" uncovered, causing substantial financial harm of over six figures to health insurance companies.

Fraudulent Trading of High-Value Diabetes Medications Uncovered in Frankfurt

An investigation into fraudulent billing and forgery of documents in the healthcare sector, involving a 41-year-old medical assistant from Frankfurt and others, has been underway for months. The Central Public Prosecutor's Office for Economic Crime in the Healthcare Sector at the Public Prosecutor's Office Fulda has been leading the operation.

The operation, which also involved officers from the Central Unit for Healthcare Fraud of the HLKA, as well as supporting forces from the Police Headquarters Frankfurt, South Hesse, and the Hessian Police Headquarters, was due to suspicion of fraudulent billing in the healthcare sector and forgery of documents.

The investigation revealed that the suspect had been secretly using her employer's practice software to create forged prescriptions with the personal data of unsuspecting patients since 2023. These prescriptions were then sold or redeemed in over 100 pharmacies, mainly in South Hesse and the Rhine-Main area.

The illegally obtained, high-value medications, known as "weight-loss injections," caused damage in six figures and affected various health insurance companies. The suspect is alleged to have run this trade along with a 31-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man.

During the search of the suspects' apartments, practice management software, forged prescriptions for "weight-loss injections," forged sick notes and vaccination cards, cash, jewelry, a vehicle, and several firearms were found and secured.
