In Salzwedel, Vodafone constructs: Initial limitations, followed by improved mobile coverage

Vodafone, one of Germany's leading communication companies and a subsidiary of the global telecommunications giant Vodafone Group, is set to modernize a local mobile station in Salzwedel from September 8 to approximately September 19, 2025. This project forms part of Vodafone's ongoing network expansion in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel district.

The growth in mobile data traffic in the region has necessitated network expansion and modernization. Vodafone currently connects over 30 million mobile customers in Germany, with its 5G network reaching more than 90% of the population. The company's machine network (Narrowband IoT) covers over 97% of Germany's surface area, providing strong support for industry and business.

The modernization includes the installation of additional broadband antennas to strengthen broadband capacities. This move is aimed at ensuring the quality of the mobile network and its sustainable operation. However, the construction work may result in temporary restrictions for individual customers, ranging from a weaker network to no reception at all during the shutdown period. Vodafone apologizes for any inconvenience and asks for understanding, as this work is essential.

In addition to network improvements, Vodafone is also committed to promoting diversity and fostering a positive work environment. The company offers various measures for work-life balance and networks for women, fathers, or LGBT+. Vodafone respects and values all people, regardless of their ethnic origin, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, belief, culture, or religion.

Emergency calls to 112 are not affected during the construction work. The location of the caller will continue to be automatically transmitted to the emergency control center during mobile emergency calls. Vodafone's website provides more information on the project and other services at www.vodafone-deutschland.de or www.vodafone.com.

Vodafone is working towards being carbon neutral by 2025 and net-zero emissions by 2040. The company's power demand in Germany is already covered 100% by renewable energies. With over 15,000 employees in Germany and around 10 million broadband customers, Vodafone is a significant player in the German telecommunications industry, connecting people, machines, families, friends, politics, economy, and society.
