Assam's Successful Reintegration of Former Naxalites Significantly Reduces Maoist Presence, Claims Sai

In the region of Chhattisgarh, the process of integrating former Naxal rebels into society has contributed to weakening the influence of Maoist insurgency, according to Sai's assertion.

In a significant stride towards peace and development, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced that his government's efforts to reintegrate surrendered Naxals into society are yielding results.

Over the past 13 months, the government has seen a notable shift in the Naxal conflict, with as many as 985 Maoists surrendering, 1,177 being arrested, and 305 being killed. This surge in surrenders and arrests is a direct result of the government's strong security policy.

The government has not only focused on combating Naxalism but also on rehabilitating surrendered Naxals and fostering an atmosphere of peace and trust in the society. Special rehabilitation schemes have been developed to provide employment and vocational training to surrendered Maoists.

One such initiative is the "Poona Margham rehabilitation initiative", which offers financial assistance of ₹50,000, employment, education, and social reintegration support. The government has also introduced Yoga and Sudarshan Kriya meditation practices in prisons to promote mental peace and self-empowerment among former militants, resulting in improved behaviour and life transformation.

In a move that underscores the government's development-oriented approach, surrendered Naxals have been included as beneficiaries under Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY).

The government's efforts have not been limited to security and rehabilitation alone. Rapid infrastructural development is being carried out in Naxal-affected regions, including roads, electricity, education, healthcare, and employment generation. These initiatives aim to address the underlying socio-economic issues that have contributed to the Naxal movement.

The chief minister asserted that his government has achieved 'historic success' in its efforts to eradicate Naxalism. He stated that the Naxal issue is not just a security challenge but also a socio-economic and development challenge. The chief minister's claims are backed by the figures, which demonstrate Chhattisgarh is rapidly moving towards peace and development, free from Naxal violence.

Strict legal actions are being taken against the arrested Naxals to strengthen law and order in the state. Naxal operations are being dismantled at their roots due to the government's efforts. The chief minister's government is committed to maintaining peace and security, creating an environment that encourages development and social progress.

The chief minister did not mention any vandalism of an Ashoka plaque at Hazratbal in the provided paragraph.
