In the wake of the departure of Woltemade, VfB enthusiastically supports Gladbach.
In a closely contested Bundesliga match, VfB Stuttgart emerged victorious against Borussia Mönchengladbach, securing a 1-0 victory. The winning goal was scored by Chema Andrés in the 79th minute with a powerful header.
The match, however, was not without its close calls. Borussia Mönchengladbach's Kevin Stöger nearly took the lead for his team in the 51st minute, but Alexander NĂŒbel, Stuttgart's goalkeeper, parried Stöger's header from a free kick.
Stuttgart's creativity and flair were lacking throughout the game, but they managed to find a breakthrough late in the second half. The Stuttgart players, led by the noticeable performance of Leweling, tested Gladbach's Nicolas with several chances, with Leweling's sharp cross being the most notable.
The victory comes at a time when Stuttgart is adjusting to the absence of key players from last season, including Nick Woltemade and Enzo Millot, who were sold for a transfer record sum of up to 90 million euros to Newcastle United and other clubs, respectively. Sami Khedira, a former Stuttgart midfielder, believes the club acted correctly in selling Woltemade.
To compensate for the lost players, Stuttgart presented a new player transfer before the transfer window on Monday evening. Bilal El Khannouss, a midfielder who joined on loan from Leicester City with a purchase option, is expected to fill some of the void left by Woltemade and Millot.
The match was not without its injuries. Deniz Undav, a Stuttgart player, had to be substituted due to a knee injury in the match. Coach Sebastian HoeneĂ described Woltemade's departure as a "heavy loss," while board chairman Alexander Wehrle emphasized the club's responsibility to the whole, understanding the coach's desire to continue working with Nick Woltemade.
Despite the challenges, board chairman Alexander Wehrle remains confident that good solutions will be presented by the end of the transfer period. Borussia Mönchengladbach, on the other hand, failed to score their first goal of the season, drawing goalless against Hamburger SV in their first match.
In the end, it was Stuttgart who took the win, with Chema Andrés's header proving to be the deciding factor. The team will look to build on this victory as they continue their Bundesliga campaign.
