Increased stress heightens the chances of contracting COVID-19
Psychotherapist Igor Salyntsov, who practices in Moscow, has offered some recommendations to help individuals reduce anxieties and fear related to the coronavirus pandemic.
Salyntsov emphasises the importance of being informed about the virus, as understanding it can help alleviate anxieties and fear. He encourages people to rely on credible information sources to gain a better understanding of the virus and its implications. This can be achieved by listening to the radio, reading online articles, or watching TV news.
However, Salyntsov warns against relying on rumours and inaccurate information, as these can escalate negative pressure on one's immunity. To reduce anxiety levels, he suggests ignoring such rumours and focusing on trustworthy sources of information.
The psychotherapist also highlights that human emotional and psychological state can affect physiological processes in the body. Persistent, excessive anxiety can reduce mental resilience, slow down metabolic processes, and weaken the body's strength, making a person more susceptible, including to viral pathologies.
In addition to reducing anxiety, Salyntsov recommends getting vaccinated against coronavirus. Not only does vaccination protect against the disease, but it also eliminates fear by providing a sense of security and control.
It is important to note that vaccines have been protecting humanity from diseases since the beginning of the 18th century. Vaccination against coronavirus is no exception, as it not only protects individuals but also contributes to herd immunity, thereby reducing the spread of the virus in the population.
Salyntsov's recommendations aim to help individuals navigate the current pandemic with a sense of calm and control, while also protecting their physical and mental health. By following these guidelines, individuals can reduce anxieties related to coronavirus, alleviate negative pressure on their immunity, and stay healthy.
