Incredible collaboration at Abbey Road Studios with Jon Hopkins: "They've pulled off something extraordinary"
Polestar, the electric performance car brand, has launched a groundbreaking in-car sound mode named Abbey Road Studios Mode, co-developed with the iconic Abbey Road Studios and audio specialist Bowers & Wilkins. This innovative feature was showcased in the Polestar 3 during a music session at Studio Two, Abbey Road Studios, with music producer Corto.alto.
Corto.alto spent a day in Studio Two to demonstrate the unique sonic characteristics of Abbey Road Studios Mode in the Polestar 3. He reimagined two of his most impactful tracks to showcase the mode's capabilities. The Polestar 3, known for its association with speed and performance, proved to be the perfect canvas for this auditory masterpiece.
Abbey Road Studios Mode offers four unique presets: Intimate, Expansive, Open, and Energised. The Intimate preset aims to recreate the quiet, private feeling of being in one of the studio's control rooms. For this preset, Jon Hopkins, who was invited to create new music, crafted a subtle, contemplative piece.
The Expansive preset, on the other hand, aims to capture the sound of Studio Two at Abbey Road Studios. Jon Hopkins, who felt fortunate to work on this project in one of the most famous rooms in music, aimed to replicate the spaciousness and clarity of the studio.
In addition to the presets, Abbey Road Studios Mode features a producer mode that allows users granular customisation of their audio experience. This mode is available exclusively with the Bowers & Wilkins audio system in Polestar 3.
Jon Hopkins, no stranger to big collaborations and innovative ideas, found this project to be different. He expressed that working on this project felt special, given the historical significance of Studio Two at Abbey Road Studios. Corto.alto also shared his excitement, describing the Polestar 3 as "so cool".
In conclusion, the Polestar 3's introduction of Abbey Road Studios Mode marks a significant step forward in in-car audio experiences. With its unique presets and customisable producer mode, music lovers can now enjoy studio-quality sound in the comfort of their cars.
