Monarchs Fall to Hoosiers in Season Opener

In a closely contested game, Indiana emerged victorious against Old Dominion with a final score of 27-14. The match took place in Bloomington, Indiana, where both teams showcased impressive performances.

Old Dominion's quarterback, Colton Joseph, had a game to remember. He rushed for an impressive 197 yards, completing 11 out of 22 passes for 96 yards. However, his performance was marred by three interceptions. The highlight of his game was a thrilling 78-yard touchdown run, which unfortunately proved to be the final score for Old Dominion.

Joseph was not the only one making headlines for Old Dominion. Wide receiver Riley Mott had a strong showing, catching the ball 5 times for 52 yards. But it was Joseph's electrifying run that stole the show.

Indiana also had its share of standout moments. Jonathan Brady returned a punt 91 yards for a touchdown earlier in the game, while Roman Hemby rushed for 110 yards. Indiana's rushing game was particularly impressive, amassing 309 yards, a figure similar to their 11-2 team from last year.

Indiana's second trainer, Philip Antonacci, played a crucial role in the game, working alongside the first trainer listed, Riley Mott. The Hoosiers dominated the game time-wise, controlling the ball for 41 minutes and 28 seconds. However, they managed only two second-half touchdowns, with their lead growing to 27-7 in the third quarter.

Indiana's second touchdown came courtesy of a 5-yard run by Fernando Mendoza, making the score 17-7. Later, Kaelon Black scored a touchdown from the 2-yard line, ending a 75-yard drive.

The final moments of the game were marked by Indiana's 12-play drive that did not result in a score but consumed the remaining time, ensuring a memorable victory for the Hoosiers. Second-year coach Curt Cignetti, who won his team's opener for the second straight year, will no doubt be looking to bounce back when Old Dominion faces its next opponent.
