India's Prime Minister, Modi, announces that India's semiconductor revolution will determine the future course of the global landscape by the year 2025, as per Semicon India 2025.

India's Prime Minister, Modi, predicts that the Indian semiconductor revolution, as seen in Semicon India 2025, will dictate the future course of the global technology landscape.

In a significant stride towards technological self-reliance, India aims to establish itself as a full-stack semiconductor nation. This ambitious goal, part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, is being pursued through the creation of a comprehensive ecosystem that fosters competitiveness and self-reliance in the semiconductor industry.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Semicon India 2025, an event that showcased industry projections of the semiconductor market. The event underscored India's commitment to becoming a key player in the global semiconductor industry.

The semiconductor market in India, currently estimated to be worth $45-$50 billion in FY2024-2025, is projected to more than double by 2030, reaching $100-110 billion. This growth is observed across all sectors of the economy, contributing significantly to India's overall economic growth. In the first quarter of this year, India's GDP growth stood at 7.8%.

Modi, during his visit to Tokyo Electron Miyagi Ltd., a leading semiconductor technology company in Japan, emphasised the importance of international collaborations in achieving this growth. He implied that there will be more such collaborations in India's semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem.

India is collaborating in chip manufacturing notably under the "India Semiconductor Mission," with new semiconductor manufacturing units being approved in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Punjab. While specific countries collaborating directly with India in chip manufacturing are not named, the involvement of global technology companies such as AMD, Nvidia, and Samsung in semiconductor technologies related to India’s ecosystem is indicated.

The projected growth of the semiconductor market is expected to solidify India's position as one of the world's most important chip-making destinations. Modi compared chips to digital diamonds in the semiconductor industry, highlighting their significance in driving technological advancements.

In his address at Semicon India 2025, Modi said the world now looks to India as a trusted partner and a future leader in chip innovation. He emphasised that this growth, along with international collaborations and regulatory support, is unstoppable, making India a formidable force in the semiconductor industry.

The world's largest revolution may soon be made possible by India's smallest chip. As India positions itself as a rising powerhouse in the global semiconductor industry, the semiconductor market growth projection includes international collaborations and regulatory backing, positioning India as a major global chip-making destination.
