Inditex, the parent company of popular fashion brands such as Massimo Dutti, Oysho, Bershka, Stradivarius, and Lefties, has announced plans to expand its logistics operations in Catalonia. The expansion will be centred around the Tordera-Palafolls complex, a move that is expected to significantly boost the company's online business.

Pablo Isla, the president of Inditex, unveiled the plans for the expansion during a recent announcement. The Tordera-Palafolls complex, which previously served as the headquarters of Massimo Dutti, will be transformed into an online distribution centre for the group.

The expansion will see the complex increase its total area by 100,000 square metres, bringing the total to 265,000 square metres. This expansion is expected to result in a 60% increase in the distribution capacity of Inditex's platform.

Until now, Inditex's online logistics activities were carried out in the Meco central in Madrid. However, with the expansion of the Tordera-Palafolls complex, these activities will be moved to the new distribution centre in the province of Barcelona.

Interestingly, the online logistics centre in the province of Barcelona was previously operated by DHL. The building housing the headquarters of Massimo Dutti will now be transformed to accommodate this new role.

Inditex's investment in Catalonia is significant, with the company announcing an investment of 190 million euros in the region. This investment is part of Inditex's broader strategy to strengthen its logistics capabilities and support its growing online business.

The expanded Tordera-Palafolls complex will undoubtedly play a crucial role in Inditex's online operations, helping to ensure faster and more efficient delivery of products to customers across the globe. This move is a testament to Inditex's commitment to its operations in Catalonia and its strategic focus on digital transformation.
