Woman Arrested for Aggravated DWI and Endangering a Child in Italy, New York
Alissa M. Cota, a 33-year-old businesswoman from Naples, was arrested on Wednesday evening in the Town of Italy after deputies accused her of driving erratically with a child passenger under the age of 16.
The incident occurred around 7:05 p.m. on State Route 245. Deputies reported that Cota showed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests at the scene.
Cota is now facing felony charges for aggravated DWI under Leandra's Law, which prohibits driving while intoxicated with a child passenger under the age of 16. She is also charged with driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.18% or higher, and endangering the welfare of a child.
In addition to these charges, Cota faces multiple vehicle and traffic violations, and is charged with obstruction of governmental administration for allegedly trying to physically resist being taken into custody.
After the arrest, Cota was held for arraignment at the Yates County Jail. Prior to her arrest, Cota was known as a prominent businesswoman in the area.
